The Flamingos gründeten sich

Chess/Checker Label. In 1953 they had their first national hit,
"Golden Teardrops" and the growing reputation as fine balladeers. Soon after
this came "Ko Ko Mo" and "Dream of a Lifetime". Meanwhile, the lads toured with
Duke Ellington and worked with Lionel Hampton and Woody Herman. They played
Chicagos's "Black orchid", "The Flame" in Minneapolis, the St. Louis "Rivera"
and many more midwestern niteries. They also appeared on T.V. In the middle of
1954, when several of them expected to be called into the armed services, they
added Nathaniel Nelson for reinforcement. In 1955 with the recording of
"I'll Be Home" and "A Kiss From Your Lips" the group was signed by Joe Glaser.
With this, the Flamingos toured the U.S. and Canada, including a stint at the
Hotel Flamingo on the strip in Las Vegas. In 1956 came their first motion
