Hempel-Oppenheim-Schema H-O-Schema, deduktiv-nomologisches Modell – Links – Literatur
Carl Gustav Hempel entwickelte mit Paul Oppenheim eine Theorie des Erklärens, das Hempel-Oppenheim-Schema (H-O-Schema, D-N-Modell [deduktiv-nomologisches Modell], Subsumtionsmodell, Hempel-Popper-Schema, covering law model). Das deduktiv-nomologische Modell erklärt ein Ereignis oder einen Sachverhalt, indem es zeigt, daß das Ereignis / der Sachverhalt aus einem allgemeinen Gesetz und einer Reihe spezieller Umstände (Anfangsbedingungen) gefolgert werden kann. Eine Erklärung hat demnach folgende Struktur:
Allgemeines Gesetz: Falls die Ereignisse a des Typs A, b des Typs B, ... und n des Typs N eintreten, dann wird Ereignis x des Typs X eintreten. Initialbedingungen: Es treten die Ereignisse a des Typs A, b des Typs B, ... und n des Typs N ein. Ereignis x des Typs X tritt ein.
Wenn 1. gilt und 2. zutrifft, dann ist 3. erklärt.
